Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has today said that it is only the Scottish Liberal Democrats who can take seats from the SNP at the forthcoming election as he campaigned for Wendy Chamberlain in the UK's most marginal seat of North East Fife.

Mr Rennie said:

"The Liberal Democrats' crystal clear message is switching lots of supporters to us. Stop Brexit, Stop Independence, Build a Brighter Future means that Liberal Democrats are growing. We are now the only party that can win from the SNP.

"With the arrival of Boris Johnson and the departure of Ruth Davidson, the Scottish Conservatives are losing support.

"Meanwhile, Scottish Labour are a shadow of their former self. Whatever promises they make are swiftly overruled by Jeremy Corbyn.

"Only the Scottish Liberal Democrats can take seats from the SNP at this election. We have had excellent results in the Shetland by-election and at the European elections and now we are breathing down the SNPs necks in many seats.

"We need to learn the lessons of Brexit, not repeat the mistakes with independence. That's why I am directly appealing to everyone who wants to end the constitutional division to come with us."
