Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie will this evening address a gathering of activists in Lower Largo in which he will lay out the party's vision for Scotland ahead of a forthcoming general election.

Mr Rennie will say:

"Liberal Democrats are ready to fight an election if and when it comes. We are a growing party with a clear and positive message: Vote for us and together we will build a brighter future with Scotland in the UK, the UK in Europe and investment in education, childcare and mental health.

"It's time to put an end to the chaos of Brexit and move on from the constant division and damage caused by the SNP and their obsession with independence.

"From North East Fife, where the SNP have the smallest majority in the country, to the seat of the SNP leader in the Highlands, we can make the difference and send a clear message. Scotland wants to be at the heart of the UK and the heart of Europe."
