Spending Review cannot hide Brexit damage

Responding to today's Spending Review, Liberal Democrat Scottish Affairs spokesperson Jamie Stone MP said:

"If the Tory Government really wanted to help the Scottish economy, they would stop Brexit.

"A no-deal Brexit could cost Scotland £14bn a year but Brexit of any sort would be devastating to the Scottish economy. The Chancellor has announced £160m for Scottish farmers, but as I said yesterday in the Chamber, this pales in comparison with the damage Brexit would do to farmers and crofters in Scotland.

"Communities across Scotland will be hit hard if the UK leaves the EU. The only way to safeguard the Scottish economy is to take no-deal off the table, put the question back to the people and provide a People's Vote with the option of staying in the EU."
