Chris Rennie for Highland Perthshire

By Perth & Kinross Liberal Democrats

Nominations have today closed for a by-election taking place next month. The by-election, to elect a member onto Perth & Kinross Council to represent the Highland ward, will be held on Thursday 19 April and we are delighted that our candidate is our Vice-Convener & Membership Secretary and seasoned activist, Chris Rennie.

Chris lives in Pitlochry and also stood in the last by-election in this ward six and a half years ago, as an Independent, before joining the Party soon after. Ever since, he has been a dedicated volunteer for the party in the Perth & Kinross area, campaigning throughout all the polls there has been in recent years. He is pictured here leafleting for Liz Barrett in the latest local by-election, in Perth South, back in November. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Local Party and managed our website for over five years. He also previously served as Secretary for two years and initiated and developed our presence on Social Media, which he continues to manage. Chris has lived in Perthshire all his life and is passionate about ensuring that rural communities are not neglected by those in the Council's corridors of power in Perth. There are six other candidates standing in this by-election but only Chris has a realistic chance of beating the big beasts; the SNP and the Conservatives. At a time when politics continues to be dominated by the big constitutional issues, Chris will focus on local matters and the basic Council services that affect people so much in their everyday lives such as ensuring street lights are repaired, pavements are swept and the terrible condition of our local roads is rectified. Chris would be an excellent Councillor, always ready to listen to people's concerns and would at all times put the interests of those he represents above any other factors. So if you live in the ward and want a young, hard-working local champion to be an advocate for your community and a fresh, strong, grassroots voice-of-the-people on the Council as an alternative to just another SNP or Conservative politician, then please make sure you lend Chris your first-preference vote on Polling Day.

Make sure you are registered to vote in the by-election by Tuesday 3 April.
